Coaching
Students are coached in goal setting and career exploration. Working in coordination with parents, we guide students in developing habits and routines that will increase academic achievement and career prospects.
1. Pupils create SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Bound) that are most urgent and relevant to the student at the moment. For example, if a student has problems with time management (i.e., making time for homework), we tailor a goal for the student that enables him or her to get at the root of the problem. We follow up with the parent and student regularly on the goal until it is achieved. If the goal is not working, we will change it.
2. The career exploration component involves students looking deeply into their strengths, interests, abilities, job readiness skills, areas for growth, extracurricular activities, and current learning profile. An analysis of these factors is used to help students make sound decisions early on for a potential future career.
3. We also provide student and parent workshops on a variety of topics to help students at their current stage of schooling. Some of the topics include Keys to Success in elementary, middle, and high school. The workshops also provide strategies to parents on best practices for setting expectations, creating an academic tone, encouraging natural interests and strengths, among others.
